Chapter 34

It's around 1 am I'm in bed watching tv on my laptop, getting interrupted by a text I pause the show, picking up my phone I read the text from Gentry,

Are you awake? Unfortunately

That was the weirdest Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had Welcome to the Visser family

Next year we're going to my house

Next year? Actually I don't want to know... why are you still up? Haven't had a good night's sleep in a while... you kind of ruined me

Confused by that text I'm not even sure what to reply, not texting back I decide to call him instead.

As soon as Gentry answers I ask, "I ruined you? What did I do?"

With a hushed voice Gentry replies, "I never knew I was someone who liked to cuddle until we did it, that was the best sleep I've ever had and I haven't been able to sleep as good since. It's not as good as when I was in your arms,"

I'd be stupid to fall for that right? Clearly, he's just saying that as one of his attempts, not today Gentry McAllen. "That's the cheesiest fucking thing I've ever heard,"

Laughing Gentry replies, "I'm being serious Shane... that's why I'm doing all of this, to sleep good again... with you. You are a supreme fucking cuddler, the hair strokes and forehead kisses in the middle of the night, I wasn't drunk enough to forget those. I need them again."

The phone goes quiet, what am I even supposed to say? "I didn't mean to make it weird," Gentry says realizing I'm not going to say anything, "you asked and I wanted to be honest"

"Do you want to come sleep with me?" The question comes out before I have a chance to think about it

"What?" Yeah I can hear how it sounds too

"I mean you can come sleep in here with me, if you want" "Are you sure?"

"No... but I believe you." "You do?"

"Don't get sentimental or weird Gentry, just come here," I hang up. Reaching for my lamp I turn it on, shutting my laptop I put it on the floor by my bed. Not a second later there's a soft knock at my door then Gentry peeks his head in not waiting for an answer.

"Hey," he smiles coming in and shutting the door, trying my hardest not to stare at his naked chest as he walks towards my bed Gentry

says, "fancy meeting you here," then snorts at his own joke. "One more joke and I change my mind"

Chuckling he sits on my bed, "all right no more jokes." I watch as he slowly lays down next to me with great distance between us, "is this ok?"

"You can come closer," he inches closer but is still far away. Reaching out I take his hand pulling him to me, laying his head on my chest Gentry's arm hugs my waist and I hear him breathe out a sigh. "Better?" I ask running my fingers through his hair

"So much," he replies with his head turned away from me. Turning off the lamp we lay in the dark and I lay there trying to not think too

deep into what we're doing. It's just cuddling, this is harmless "Shane?" Gentry quietly says my name

"Hmm?" "Thank you," "For what?"

"Believing me," with nothing else to say I just kiss the top of his head.

Slowly coming to the next morning I try to stretch but find it impossible, opening my eyes I try to stay calm when I see Gentry sleeping right in front of me, our faces are so close our noses are touching. With our arms and legs in a cuddling mess, I can't move a muscle trapped in his arms, but my arms are around him too. I'm not sure how we got in this position but I can admit to myself that Gentry was right, sleeping alone isn't the same when we could be like this.

Deciding to stay still I just lay there staring at how peaceful his face looks asleep, attractive people even make sleeping look effortless.

Trying not to think about how good his lips look I shut my eyes to not look at them, I'm not falling for you again, Gentry McAllen. With my leg trapped between his, I couldn't move out of this even if I wanted to.

Staying like this isn't terrible either, I wouldn't mind staying in bed all day cuddling with him, but this is just me letting one good thing get to my head. Deciding to open my eyes again I'm surprised when I see Gentry staring back at me.

He smiles when we see each other, "good morning" he whispers

"Morning," I look elsewhere so we can stop gazing at each other, but I can feel he's still staring at me.

"What time is it?" "I don't know,"

"Do you want me to leave?"

Meeting his eyes again I shake my head replying, "no"

"Okay," he smiles shutting his eyes again, readjusting his grip Gentry holds me tighter against his naked chest, burying my face into his

neck we fall back asleep.

Getting brutally woken up by my ringing phone ,I quickly sit up grabbing it from the nightstand pressing the lock button so it'll stop

ringing, reading the time it's around noon. Then it suddenly hits me, I sat up way too easily. Looking next to me I see the empty spot where

Gentry's supposed to be, frowning I continue to stare at it until I hear, "miss me?" From across my room and look over to see Gentry walking out of my bathroom

"No," I lay back letting out a breath. "We've been here too long my parents are going to start wondering—"

"They're not home," he says then adds, "they went to someone's house with leftovers or something, I didn't really hear everything"

"Okay."
