'Oh, I see…" he said with half attention, he seemed to be thinking about another thing.
'So what do you have to say to me?" She asked with a raised brow.
'Can we discuss it privately?" He asked, staring at Claire and Alexander.
'Okay," Sapphire said, she turned to Alexander. 'I would be back in a bit," She told him and he nodded .
'Come this way," Sapphire said and led Matthew into the garden, the man followed him like a lost puppy.
She sat on the chair that was in the garden and he sat down beside her.
'Grandma told me to tell you to come over to the house, she had something to discuss with you, something about asking you to join the family company," Matthew said, and Sapphire raised a brow at him.
'And why would I do that?" Sapphire asked and Matthew sighed.
'She thinks that since you are not dating or engaged to Oliver and you are not working in his company, you should come work in the family's company,"
'No, I am going to work at SJAY–" she said, and Matthew turned to stare at her, he had disbelief in his eyes.
'What the hell are you saying Sapphire? That is like working for Oliver all over again, this only proves that you should come back,"
'Alexander also said the same and offered me another choice," Sapphire said, rubbing a circle over hand. 'He offered me to work in his company, I won't do anything and all I need to do is being his wife and I declined, his offer was better than yours,"
'I think you should stay away from Alexander, there are rumors that he is involved in many kinds of shady business, he isn't what he portrayed himself as,"
'How can I stay away from him when he is my husband?"
'I am being serious here,"
'And I am being serious too. Matthew, why do you always have a problem with the men I dated or in a relationship with, you accused Oliver of being promiscuous–"
'And I was right about that! That asshole left you for your best friend, he betrayed you. I tell you the truth everytime but you never listened to me, I am doing it now, again and you are still not listening,"
'Oliver was a scumbag for betraying me, he proved you right but believe when I tell you that Alexander would never leave. He could be involved in all the shady business that exists in this world and I won't give a damn,"
'What happened to you, Sapphire? You used to not want to be involved with anything Illegal and you are practically saying that you would turn a blind eye to his illegal activities,"
'If he was involved in shady, I would. I was with those who do legal things for a long time and what did I get from it? Nothing, absolutely nothing!" She snapped in anger.
'What makes you believe in this guy so much? You barely know him!" He exclaimed.
'Nothing. He has done nothing to make me believe him but you have done a lot to make me not believe in you,"
'Do you trust him?"
'More than I would ever trust you," Sapphire replied, coldly and Matthew's shoulders slumped.
How did Sapphire change from that sweet loving girl to this cold neutral woman?
'I would just tell you that he is shady the rest is your business,"
'I would take your words with the importance of a white crayon. You were always biased whenever it involved me and men.
You boarded a plane to Canada when you heard Oliver and I announce our wedding date, came back three years later when you heard that I am back , only to try to convince me not to get married," Sapphire replied nonchalantly and Matthew cast his eyes in hurt and disappointment.
He put his hand inside his pocket and brought out two cares, both of different colors and sizes.
'This is for you," he said and put it in Sapphire's hand. 'The first one is an invitation to a yoga practice, your mother told me to give it to you," He said and Sapphire checked out the card, a smirk appeared on her lips when she saw the invitation card.
Did Melissa really think that she was still dumb, it is very obvious that she was the one that gave the card to their mom. Where on earth would their mother get the invitation card to a yoga practice that only accepts rich young women?
'The second one is for a cooking class, mom told me to give it to you," Matthew continued and Sapphire wondered what Aunt Brielle's intention was for giving her this card.
'Of course, I know that you won't go so give me that so that I can trash it," Matthew said , reaching for it but Sapphire moved it out of his reach.
'Tell both of them that I really appreciate the kind gift that was sent to me, they should expect me at the next practice and class. I would love it if they help me secure a post as a member," Sapphire said with a smile and Matthew shook his head in disapproval.
'No, you are not doing this. It is a trap!" He exclaimed.
'And you think that I don't know that?"
'They would all bully you, Melissa is the leader for both the yoga and cooking club, you won't be able to survive it."
'And why do you think that?"
'You were bullied in that club when you were there four years ago, it was so bad that I had to worry about your mental health, they did all sort of bad things to you, locking you in a tiny closet with little air to breathe, throwing you inside a basin full of water and locking you in it for a whole day, messing up your clothes and forcing you to do things that are out of your limit. Do you want me to keep going on?" Matthew said in exasperation.
'So you knew about it all?" Sapphire said, surprise evident in her voice.
'Of course, I did. I knew everything,"
'And you kept quiet,"
'Because you value your privacy more than anything at that time, all you wanted was to let everyone picture Conrad as a happy family, Heather as the best bestie and Oliver as the perfect boyfriend. You would have hated me if I announced it to the family,"
'Then you must see Melissa's involvement in the scheme from afar and decided to go away when I needed someone the most,"
'Melissa's involvement?" He asked in shock and Sapphire rolled her eyes.
'Don't try to play dumb now, she was the one that came up with a plan to get Oliver, she was in with Heather on it, I would say that she played the most important role. You used to hate Heather too at that time, was it because you knew about it? Were you also in on it?"
'Sapphire! Don't accuse me of such things!"
'You didn't hear the news? It was the news of the century at that time, I had to stay in the shadows because almost everyone recognizes the rich first daughter of the Conrad family who cheated on her loving and innocent boyfriend and was on drugs, she also goes to the club and do a job as a stripper, the funny thing was that she called it a job but she does it free of charge. She also slept with one or two men every other day when she feels like it!"
'Sapphire…" He said, speechless.
'Yes, you got it right, her name was Sapphire Conrad and when her family was asked they testified that the rumors were fact. Where were you then?" She asked and scoffed, before lowering her voice, she got rid of the anger in it.
'Matthew, don't try to talk to me when I picked up the pieces and remade myself, we both had ears and mouth when I was down and broken,"
