Chapter 63: Apology

'Hi Sapphire," He greeted and that brought her out of the daze she was in. She left the door and went to sit on the couch while Alexander went upstairs, she turned to look at him before turning back to Matthew.
'What are you doing here?" She asked coldly and Matthew swallowed before he sighed heavily.
'I am sorry," he said with a sheepish expression and Sapphire raised a brow at him.
'What are you talking about?"
'The last time I was here, I said some stupid things that brought back bad memories. I am sorry about that. I should have went about things another way,"
'No matter how you went about it, I still won't agree with you, I am already engaged to him. It is too late to back out of the marriage now," She said and Matthew nodded.
'I get what you are saying, I just don't want you to be married to a person you are clueless about his life especially when it could be dangerous,"
'There isn't any secret between me and Alexander, he tells me everything not caring about what my past had to say of me, I hope you respect my decision,"
'Of course, if that is what you want, Claire told me that he is a good man and even though I don't like him I guess I have no choice except to tolerate him," he explained and Sapphire started from him to Claire and back to him.
'Since when did you guys become close friends? You even had the time to talk about me behind my back?" Sapphire asked teasingly and Claire rolled her eyes at her.
'Oh please! If I didn't get involved, you wouldn't give him a chance to explain himself, the reason why you didn't send him out as soon as you saw him was because you didn't want to embarrass him in front of me," Claire said and Sapphire kept her mouth shut because she is right.
'I am really sorry Sapphire," he said and Sapphire nodded. Claire stared at Matthew with a glare and raised brow and the man pursed his lips.
'I am sorry about the way I talked about Alexander too," he said reluctantly, and Sapphire couldn't help the amused smile that crept up her face when she saw the look on Matthew's face, he looked like he was forced to swallow shit.
'It is okay, I actually didn't hold a grudge over that simple matter, I just wanted to stand my ground," she explained and he nodded, she stood up and started walking up the stairs.
'And Sapphire," he called and she halted, she turned to stare at him.
'I am sorry for what they did," he said, hoping that she understood the message he was too ashamed to say out loud.
'Thanks for trying Matthew, but it is not your apology to make," she said with a sad smile and went out of their sight.
'Now would you tell me the reason why you insisted on coming tonight even though it is so late?" Claire asked Matthew.
'I had an argument with Melissa and I knew that I have to get the apology out of my system, we shouldn't all be remorseless about what we did to her,"
'We?"
'I accept my fault in the incident that happened, if I had been there for her that time, it wouldn't have ended up as worse as it did because I still couldn't have had the ability to change the situation,"
'Accepting your fault is all that matters, it allows you to move on,"
'Thank you so much, Claire,"
'There is no thank you between close friends," she replied with a smile which also made him smile.

Sapphire smiled from where she stood watching them, it seems like something is blooming between the two.
'I would make sure I get Claire to spill the truth about how they met," she said to herself but flinched when she got a reply.
'Yeah, you would do that later but first, you also have to spill," Luci said beside her and she stared at her in confusion.
'What are you talking about? Spill what?"
'What happened on the date you and Alexander went to three days ago,"
'What made you confident that something happened?"
'I don't know the fact that the both of you are acting like teenagers who had crush on each other at breakfast,"
'We aren't, there isn't anything to tell, I am going to sleep," she rushed and tried to escape but Luci was faster, she had held her by the arm, she squinted her eyes at Sapphire suspiciously.
'There is definitely something, spill now before I get the kids to—'
'I kissed Alexander," She said and Luci gaped at her in disbelief.
'What?" she asked.
'We kissed," she repeated and Luci let out a scream after she finished processing her word.
'Oh my god!" She said and Sapphire quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Claire and Matthew stopped talking to stare around.
'Don't worry about it, it is probably Luci being Luci, maybe she saw something on her instagram or something," Claire said and Matthew nodded, but he still stared around one last time.
'Oh my god! You did something like that and you didn't even think of telling me about it?" Luci said and Sapphire shrugged. 'What was his reaction? Did he kiss back?"
'Of course he did, he is not stupid," Sapphire said and Luci smiled, wriggling her brows.
'So? What kind of kisser is he? The slow one who gently lulls you into the pleasure land or the fast one that kisses you with an intensity that leaves you lost in your thoughts for days? Where did his hand go when he kissed you? Your ass or boobs? Did you hold your cheeks gently or wrap his hand around your waist? Or is he the type that turns his hand into a wanderer and turns your body to an unknown land?" She basically vomited and Sapphire stared at her in disbelief.
'What the hell?"
'Did you take it further or you behave like a chicken by going to sleep in your room, don't tell me that you forced the man to pretend like nothing ever happened," Luci said when Sapphire just kept staring at her. 'No," she groaned. 'The man already showed you the green flag, why the hell are you pulling back?"
'You know what Luci? It is time to go to sleep," She said and Luci shook her head.
'No, no, tell me, tell me about it," She said, shaking her head as Sapphire pushed her toward her room. 'No!" She screamed when Sapphire pushed her inside her room.
'So fucking dramatic," she muttered to herself, she checked up on the kids who were already asleep, gave the kids a peck on their forehead, before heading to Alexander's room which already became their room since she moved in.
She entered and went to change into her pajamas, Alexander was at the balcony taking a call from Zayn because she heard him say his name.
She sat on the bed just as Alexander came into the room, he took the glass of water on the table and gave it to her.
'You haven't drank water since you consumed that alcohol, right?" He said and she nodded, she smiled at him gratefully before collecting the glass of water from him.
'How did you know that I was drunk at a bar?" She asked and Alexander smirked.
'Well, I have my own ways," he replied and she stared at him suspiciously.
'Do you have bodyguards following me?"
'Nope," he said, turning on the bed to stare at her.
'Then?" She asked but instead of replying, he tugged her arm and she fell on his chest. 'What are you doing?"
'It is late, let us go to sleep like this, I sleep better when we are in this position," he muttered, holding her tight against his chest. 'Sweet dreams," he added and switched off the light.
