'If any of you have anything to say, you might as well say it now, I am all ears." Sapphire finally said to the tensed shareholders who looked like they would explode anytime.
'You are rude, Sapphire," A shareholder who Sapphire didn't know her name was the first to speak out of the bunch, she merely raised her brow at her. 'You_"
'I would prefer it a lot if you would call me Ms. Aldine, we are not on close enough terms for you to be calling me by my first name," She interrupted and the woman scoffed.
'You have no right to do all this meeting without contacting the board, you can't just go on announcing that you are the CEO just because Madam Emiliana gave you the position," Dan said and Sapphire nodded.
'Just so you know, Sa—Ms. Aldine, we have already decided that the next CEO would be Ms. Melissa," Another man said when Sapphire wasn't taking the man's words seriously.
Sapphire glanced at Melissa who was sitting at the far end with an arrogant look on her face, her mother was sitting on her right side and helping her to adjust her clothes while the major shareholder, Mr. Connor, was sitting on her left side.
'Do you need me to bring the statement of the will here? You should know by now that I don't give a fuck about what you guys think. I announced to everyone that I am now the new C.E.O courtesy of my late grandmother's wish," she replied simply.
'You should know very well by now that the wish of someone has no room for affecting the decision in the corporate world, things are usually done as deemed fit!" Another woman added.
'Well, by ‘deemed fit' you don't mean Melissa, do you?" Sapphire asked. 'Because it would be obnoxious if that is what you are implying. She is anything but fit and right." She added staring straight at Melissa who had her hand fisted over the table in anger, it is obvious that she was getting on her nerves.
'What is that supposed to mean? Ms. Melissa had been working her head off for the company since ten years ago, when you are out doing gods know what. If there is something wrong, it is you being the C.E.O," Tyler said and Sapphire started chuckling. They all wondered if she had gone crazy because of the man's words, she looks so amused when there isn't anything funny.
'Ms. Aldine, I would love it if you stop making a nuisance out of yourself and get out of here. We have more important things to do," Mr. Connor said but that made her chuckle harder.
Felix had a blank expression on his face as just stared at his niece who was definitely up to something while Arielle folded her hands over her chest, wondering what she would do next.
'I don't know that blue flash is as powerful as this, is it what turned you guys to such loyal puppies?" Sapphire asked and the room suddenly became quiet, you have heard if a feather landed on the floor at that moment.
Everyone stared at her with wide eyes, some shareholders started murmuring, wondering how she knew about the flash, Felix and Arielle's attention had been captured.
'Don't say nonsense here, Sapphire and get the hell out of this place," Melissa said, standing up from her seat, glaring at Sapphire.
'Just so you know Melissa, that stupid flash that you have is blank, there is nothing there," Sapphire said and noise erupted in the conference room, every single shareholder stare at Melissa with eyes demanding explanation.
'That's bullshit! You think you can say nonsense in here and be believed? Dream on." Marylynne defended her second daughter and Sapphire scoffed before standing up from her seat, a serious expression on her face.
'Too bad for you Sapphire, you chose a bad day to play a clown, I have with me, the flash you claim to be empty and I would show everyone here how legit it is," Melissa said, raising the blue flash from her bag and Sapphire nodded.
'It is not like you have any other choice, these tigers are ready to maul you if they know that you trick them," She replied.
Melissa inserted the flash in the laptop in front of her and smirked before turning to show it to Mr. Connor. The man's eyes ran over the content before he relaxed back on his chair.
'You see that? She is lying!" Melissa exclaimed, pointing to Sapphire who only chuckled sarcastically.
'I never said that it was right Melissa," Mr. Connor said beside her and Melissa turned to look at him with wide eyes.
'WHA……What are you talking about? You confirm it the last time that it was legit," Melissa said.
'The fact that I said it was legit don't mean that it is, in fact, I knew from the start that this thing is fake, but since you seem to be more of a good option than Felix, I allowed you to continue," Mr. Connor said and Melissa fell on the chair, she looked utterly betrayed.
Seems like a lot of people were betraying her these days, an easy way to make herself the victim.
'The stupid flash that turned all of you to loyal assholes is right here," Sapphire said, removing a flash from her bag with a smirk on her face making the people present in the room stare at her with eyes wide in shock.
She raised her hand and threw the flash across the room and it landed on the table, right in front of Mr. Connor.
'I would give you the honor of checking it since you seem like the alpha of the pack, but I don't think that you need to check though, you already know that's the real flash," Sapphire said and Mr. Connor was quiet for a while before nodding his head in agreement. Felix stared at Sapphire in surprise, how on earth did the flash he served for wide and near ended up right in her hands.
Arielle wondered if her useless father would end up passing the flash to Sapphire, but just the thought is highly impossible. Sapphire didn't have a close relationship with Marcel and the chance that she visited him in prison is less than zero.
'With that out of the way, would now behave like adults and let us discuss the first things first?" Sapphire asked, looking like the strict C.E.O of a big company she was.
'You are not going to betray me like this right? Mr. Connor? You are not going to believe her and do this." Melissa asked in desperation and the man glanced at her before glancing at Sapphire who was standing at the head of the table.
'Finally, I know why the late old woman insisted at the time of her death that she would lead the company. She was born to be a great woman." Mr. Connor nodded and Melissa felt angry tears gathering in her eyes.
It would not be up for discussion anymore if the board supported her like this, all her hard work would be up to nothing.
Sapphire stared at Melissa and smirked, all of these would be nothing when she is done with them.
While Felix, Arielle and Melissa were having a brawl about the flash, none of them suspected that Marcel would pass on the flash to the son of the man who killed him.
Max had kept the flash safe all these years, she had passed to Aunt Brielle who people think don't know how to do anything except gossip and cruise and they had kept it safe for years.
In the Conrad Mansion, no one knew about things more than Max and Aunt Brielle, they both shared grudges and hatred for the same person, they also shared the pain of losing someone close to them.
Max, who lost his nice uncle who was more of a father to him than his real father ever was, and Aunt Brielle, who lost the only brother who was ever good to her.
They gave Sapphire the flash when she had a discussion with them after they all knew that Madam Emiliana left the company for her.
Felix, Marylynne, Melissa and most especially Arielle had perplexed expressions on their faces, trying to figure out the situation.
Guess they would just have to worry about it for a lifetime because the little cat would never be let out of the bag.
